Martin Frič je bezesporu jednou z nejvýraznějších osobností předválečné i poválečné historie českého raného filmu. Muž, který patřil ke klasikům filmové veselohry si získal jméno už ve třicátých letech minulého století a ještě ve druhé polovině šedesátých let dovedl rozdávat smích, aniž by slevil z umělecké kvality. Jako režisér je podepsán téměř pod dvěma stovkami filmů, což je nepochybně evropský i světový unikát. Monografie, která právě vychází, je jen malou splátkou za jeho vklad do pokladnice české kinematografie.
