i Flautisti - The London Recorder Quartet – Sound Clouds

Formed in London in 2009, i Flautisti emerged on the music scene as an imaginative quartet looking for ways to encourage the growth of repertoire for our instrument. Meeting and working alongside a number of inspirational composers resulted in pieces being written for our ensemble, challenging the preconceptions of what currently exists for recorder consort. The idea then came to put together an album documenting these ideas of the recorder in the 21st century in a project strongly promoting new and innovative music for quartet. As important for us was to show just how much the repertoire for our instrumentation has progressed and we highlight this by performing some celebrated pieces of recorder music alongside our new commissions. Also including five brand new works for recorder quartet and a previously unrecorded duet by Bohuslav Martinů, we hope you enjoy listening as much as we've enjoyed playing.
